For a growing business, compliance rarely fails in a dramatic way. It fails quietly — a return filed late here, a reconciliation skipped there — until a notice arrives and a quiet problem becomes an urgent one. The antidote isn't effort; it's rhythm. A short, repeatable monthly routine keeps everything current and turns the year-end into a confirmation rather than a scramble.
Here is the rhythm we run for the businesses we look after.
Every month
- File your GST returns on time — and, just as importantly, reconcile your purchase register against the portal so input credits don't leak because a supplier filed late.
- Deposit TDS you've deducted by the due date, and keep the working papers that feed the quarterly TDS return.
- Record the month's transactions while they're fresh — not in a year-end heap. Clean books month to month are the single biggest time-saver later.
- Reconcile your bank statements to the books, so nothing is missed or double-counted.
- Note any reverse-charge (RCM) expenses — freight, legal, imports — and account for them as they happen.
Every quarter
- File your TDS returns and issue the certificates your vendors and employees expect.
- Re-estimate your profit and pay the advance-tax instalment — a ten-minute check that avoids interest and a March surprise.
- Review receivables and cash flow — the numbers that actually decide whether the next quarter is comfortable.
Once a year
- Income-tax return and tax audit where applicable, reconciled to your AIS and Form 26AS.
- ROC annual filings for a company or LLP, and director KYC — these flow from the entity existing, not from how busy the year was.
- A fresh look at your tax regime choice, depreciation and the deductions you're entitled to.
- Renew or review any registrations and licences before they lapse.
Why the rhythm pays for itself
A business that keeps this cadence answers a departmental query in one letter instead of one season, claims every input credit it's owed, and never pays interest it didn't need to. The owner also gets something less obvious but more valuable — the freedom to stop carrying the whole calendar in their head.
That, in essence, is what our Compliance Management service is: one team, one calendar, every deadline handled, so the rhythm runs quietly in the background while you run the business.
